Many years ago, Eric & I decided that one day we wanted to explore the world under sail on our own boat. After years of rentals and bareboat cruising in the Caribbean, Tonga, Thailand, and Greece, we knew what we wanted and were ready to start building towards our dream. In 2002, we bought Far Niente (Italian for "do nothing") and spent the next year outfitting her and exploring the Southern California coastal waters. Our cruising adventures began with the 2003 Baja-Ha-Ha, and for the next three years we regularly stole pockets of time away from our day jobs to do the Mexican Yo-Yo from the Sea of Cortez down to Barra de Navidad. On January 8, 2007 we began a sabbatical from our daily obligations and moved aboard Far Niente, in Paradise Village, Puerto Vallarta, to begin our preparations for our March 16 departure for the South Pacific.
